Getting you to Guadalajara.

This wedding is international by design. Here's everything you need to plan the trip without a single group chat.

Flying in

Fly into Guadalajara International (GDL). Direct flights run from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, New York, and Mexico City.
From Europe or Asia, connect through Mexico City (MEX) or a US hub — plan for a full travel day.
The airport sits about 30–45 minutes southeast of the city. Authorised taxis and Uber both serve arrivals.

Arrive Wednesday 25 August if you can. Thursday's welcome cocktails start at 7:00 PM and jet lag is real.
Fly home Sunday 29 August or later. Saturday runs late, and nobody should be packing at 6 AM.
Staying on? Puerto Vallarta is a 45-minute flight, and tequila country is an hour by road.

Colonia Americana and Lafayette are the best base: walkable, full of cafés and bars, close to everything on our itinerary.
Zapopan and Providencia are quieter and greener, better for families travelling with children.
Book by early 2027. August is a busy season in Jalisco.

Your passport must be valid for the whole trip. Six months of validity is the safe standard.
US, Canadian, UK, EU, and many other passport holders do not need a visa for tourism — you receive a tourist permit on arrival.
Indian passport holders and several other nationalities do need a visa, though a valid US visa can exempt you. Check with your nearest Mexican consulate early — appointments book out.

The currency is the Mexican peso. Cards are widely accepted; carry cash for markets, taxis, and small kitchens.
Withdraw from bank ATMs rather than airport exchange counters for the better rate.
eSIMs work well in Guadalajara, and most hotels and cafés have solid wifi.

August is warm and green: mid-20s Celsius by day, with short heavy showers most afternoons.
Bring a light rain layer, sunscreen, and shoes that survive cobblestones.
Something formal for Saturday, something colourful for Friday, and one extra outfit for the day you decide to stay out.
